I absolutely one hundred percent recommend this book. It’s filled with pop-culture references, strange creatures (including a giant turtle like beast that rapes cars), a religious group that kicks ass for the lord, tribes, demons, angles, rednecks, socialites, tits and dicks all while weaving an incredibly interesting story. The shit the characters go through is nothing short of brilliant as the story grows to almost epic proportions while also mostly being around one lake. This book has more than a hint of Edward Lee about it and was inspired by his own series from what I can gather but Christine has very much made it her own. It may seem like a lot of moving parts, and it is, but Christine is one of the best around at making sure you’re not lost, and turning something that should be complex into something that’s a ton of fun and hilarious to boot. A host of side characters already populate the Hellish Lake as well and soon things are put into place to potentially start a war with the Devil as the US military aims to weaponise Hell. Hell arrives on Earth in a corner on Florida but is quickly covered up and becomes somewhat of a myth, but that doesn’t stop people wanting to visit and see for themselves including a bunch of obnoxious teens, a church group taking the war to Satan, and a kind-hearted pilot with an honest to God real Guardian Angel. Everything from the insanely awesome concept, to the platoon of interesting and crazy characters, to Christines fantastic witty and delicious writing, this book has everything anyone could ever want. Lakehouse Infernal is one of the best books i’ve ever read.
